These rare pair of vintage Royal Rajasthani, life-size guards, hand-carved from teak wood, circa 1910, and an outstanding and dramatic example of anglo-indian sculpture.

The moustached figure is clad in formal garb and his head is wrapped in a traditional turban. The unusual and bold figure appears to be carved from a single tree trunk. The carving is mounted on a 9" base for a total height of 154cm.
