Antique Hammered Lotus-Shaped Brass Water Vessel – India - Circa 18th Century. This large lotus-shaped round vessel is made from brass and the hammered lotus petals are a hand-crafted and intricate work of art.

The brass surface is smooth, interrupted only by subtle undulations that hint at the handcrafting process and its color is yellow, like dull gold.

Its height is 50 cm, and its diameter is 100 cm.

The vessel would have often been used for religious purposes, to float flowers and candles, especially at the entrance of your home as a daily ritual, but today it is more commonly used as a decorative piece, it would be a rustic decorative item in most homes.

The lotus flower is a sacred symbol in India, with a rich history and cultural significance. It is associated with many Hindu deities, including Brahma, Vishnu, and Lakshmi. For example, Lakshmi the goddess of wealth, prosperity, and good fortune, is often depicted sitting on a lotus flower.
